One of the frequent complaints that one faces as a CMI person is that although everything around us has changed in the last 15-20 years, the environment in which traditional qualitative is conducted still remains the same … household venue, cramped beds that pass off as seating, cctv that works in spurts and no pretence of separation of respondents and us ( the wires are always a give away). This venue along with the obvious locational advantages is a move to correct this and bring it more in line with the experience that one gets in developed markets or even SEA or China.
